Over the past decade, Dallas has steadily transformed into one of the fastest-growing [tech](https://www.blueprintpartners.com/sectors/technology) hubs in the U.S. The city is home to more than 1.3 million people, making it the ninth-largest-populated city in the US and the third-largest in the state of Texas. 

More than 280 businesses are now headquartered in Texas, according to the [Dallas Chamber](https://www.dallaschamber.org/why-dallas/dfw-facts/), and with major players like AT&T, Toyota and KFC expanding their footprint in North Texas specifically, the region has become a thriving destination for startups, top talent and innovation.

## **Why Dallas? Key factors fuelling the tech boom** 

### Business-friendly environment  

Texas doesn’t have income tax, and Dallas makes the deal even sweeter with business-friendly perks – like tax incentives and straightforward regulations that make it easier for businesses to launch, operate and scale quickly. These advantages make Dallas an attractive destination for companies looking to grow in a climate that is pro-business.   

### A growing talent pool and shifting HQs 

With major universities like UT Dallas and SMU offering strong engineering and computer science programs, Dallas is building a future-ready workforce. The city also offers a significantly lower cost of living compared to other tech hubs like San Francisco and New York – making it a feasible option for not only talent but also companies who are looking to expand. In fact, Dallas has become a relocation hotspot for large tech brands looking to escape the high costs of the coasts. According to [CBRE’s 2024 report](https://www.cbre.com/insights/reports/tech-30-2024), Dallas ranked among the top three markets in North America for high-tech job growth in 2023. 

### Strategic location 

Dallas’ central location offers easy coast-to-coast access, naturally making it a business hub. Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) is one of the busiest and best-connected airports in the world, offering direct flights to nearly every major U.S. city and key global destinations. For companies managing teams, clients and operations across regions, this level of accessibility is a strategic asset, enabling faster travel, easier collaboration and, crucially, more efficient growth.

## The role of AI in Dallas’ tech evolution
