Virtual Reality Training

Client Objective

Deploy engaging, repeatable, cost effective training at scale

Our Approach

Drive engagement through VR, to transform training behaviour

Results

1,000 new employees trained in 3 months

Client Objective

Our challenge

With the upcoming completion of the Appleby Magna facility, the UK's largest aftersales distribution centre, there would be a need to recruit and train over 1,000 new staff within a short window. Learning standard operating procedures for pick, packing and putaway has traditionally been classroom based, but with a younger workforce and a need for scale, Blueprint were asked to create a new solution that was engaging and cost effective.

Our Approach

How we drove engagement

The creation of a multi-level, multi-procedure virtual reality training experience. With different modules for each of the key operating procedures, both the processes and environment of the new facility were recreated in VR. Through a number of VR headsets located in the on-site training facility, up to 20 trainees at a time are able to work through, experience and repeat the key procedures.

Results

How we transformed behaviour

The point based game rewards trainees for correct actions and allows trainers to spot those who are struggling. The experience of physically doing each action provides greater retention and understanding of each procedure and the engagement the VR provides, particularly to younger employees, has increased completion and satisfaction with the training.

We created

Engaging, value add experience, making the training more fun

We delivered

Higher completion and rentention rates

We love

The solution is deployable repeatedly, at scale, at a fixed cost

To our initial brief, Blueprint responded quickly - they wanted to come on-site see our processes. They wanted to know every detail that we wanted to include and they fully met our brief. Feedback has been tremendous and users say it has really added to their experience.
